Webcei.com made an interview with Alejandro Escudero about the annual SIMA Fair and International Professional Program in Madrid, which is held from 27th to 30th of May this year
1) Alex, you are in charge for organising the SIMA 2009. How many exhibitors you are expecting this year? And how many visitors are coming to the SIMA?
Well, we expect nearly 300 exhibitors, national and international. Having in mind the current worldwide scenario and situation, we’ll be really happy to reach this number. We know our exhibitors have made a big effort to come and we’re ready to offer them the best Return on Investment (ROI) possible. It’s difficult to know exact figures regarding visitors but I can say that SIMA has kept an aggressive national and international campaign for both, professionals and end buyers. We’ll hopefully reach
2) How many international real estate agents are you expecting in Madrid?
We expect nearly 800 international agents.
3) Which possibilities do the members of CEI have to make contacts to their colleagues?
CEI members will have plenty of possibilities to meet & network with international & national real estate colleagues. SIMA is not only an exhibition but a great platform in which several professional activities are held, such as SIMA’s Global Real Estate Congress. This represents the best opportunity for CEI members to contact real estate professionals (investors, brokers, developers, egents…) from 40 different markets. In addition to this, SIMAPLAZA will give them the chance to attend networking sessions, country tables that will help them multiply their business opportunities.
4) Last year you offered the country tables in the International Center. Will there be international tables this year again? Is everybody welcome at this event?
Yes, this year at SIMAPLAZA, former known as International Business Center there will be country tables again where the most important and interesting topics will be discussed. All professionals registered to participate at SIMA’s Global Real Estate Congress will have access to this area in which there will also be cocktails and presentations.
5) Is the SIMA a Spanish exhibition?
I could imagine that a lot of people are not aware if the SIMA is a Spanish or an international event. SIMA has always reflected the national situation because many of its visitors and exhibitors are Spanish, however, since 4 years ago SIMA has achieved great international figures due to an important business expansion and this has translated into an international exhibition in which nearly 30% of the exhibitors will represent international countries.
6) Beside CEI there are some international associations as partners in the presentation of SIMA. Which are the 2009 partners?
Yes, SIMA has reached agreements with the most important international players including NAR, FAR, SAR, RAMB (USA) , CEREAN (EASTERN EUROPE), CEPI (EUROPE)
7) In the International Professional Program you have a variety of themes for international real estate business. What are the main topics this year?
This year the main topics will be:
- current situation of the real estate industry
- Strategies and government & institutional plans to reactivate the real estate sector
8) Which are the two most important days at the SIMA for the CEI members? We would like to invite the CEI members to Madrid: Which two days should they be present in Madrid?
SIMA will be held from May 27th until the 30th. The International Program will take place during the 27th until the 29th . These three days are very important and will offer CEI professionals multiple opportunities to help them grow their business.
